Thirty-two years of keeping practices connected—and patient information protected.
Matthew has spent more than three decades in IT support and firewall security, helping organizations keep their networks reliable, secure, and ready for the work that depends on them.
ValtaGuard was created with a focused purpose: to serve dental practices, where a technology failure can quickly disrupt patient care, stall a full schedule, and place sensitive patient information at risk.
Matthew understands that dental offices need more than someone to fix a problem after it happens. They need a trusted technology partner who helps protect their systems, strengthen security, and keep the practice moving with as little disruption as possible.
He works remotely first, intentionally maintains a limited client roster, and provides focused, responsive support. Before work involves protected health information, Matthew signs a Business Associate Agreement so responsibilities for safeguarding that information are clearly established.
Outside of work, Matthew is a husband and father—and he brings that same sense of responsibility to protecting the people and information your practice is trusted with.
Practical experience. Personal accountability. Protection built around your practice.
Dental Practice Environments
Familiar with the software, imaging systems, and daily workflow of a dental office.
Dental Practice Software Support
Support for the core technology your practice relies on every day.
Security Review First
Every engagement starts with a scoped, quoted security review before ongoing work begins.
Written Findings You Keep
A plain-language written report of what was found—yours to keep, whether or not you continue.
Most breaches do not start with a sophisticated attack.
Phishing is the front door
Most ransomware at dental practices starts with a single email, not a hole in the firewall.
Missing basics, not bad luck
Most incidents trace back to a missing control that was simple to put in place: a current patch, a tested backup.
Recovery costs more than care
A single serious incident, with downtime, notification, and recovery, typically costs a practice far more than a year of monthly care.
Dental Cybersecurity That Protects the Whole Practice
Your patient database is only one part of what needs protection. A safer dental practice depends on secure access, protected workstations, reliable networks, safer email, recoverable backups, and a clear plan when something goes wrong.
Managed Firewall and Network Security
We configure, maintain, and review firewall, network, Wi-Fi, segmentation, and remote-access controls to help reduce exposure.
24/7 Automated Monitoring
Configured security tools monitor for significant events around the clock and can send after-hours alerts to Matthew.
HIPAA Security Support
Risk analysis, technical safeguards, documentation, and security practices that support a stronger HIPAA-aligned environment.
The technology behind patient care needs protection.
From practice-management software and digital imaging to scheduling, communications, payments, and backups, a dental practice depends on connected systems working safely and reliably.
Your Practice Runs on More Than Dentistry.
Patient records, digital imaging, appointment schedules, insurance details, payment information, email, phones, and clinical systems all depend on technology working safely and reliably.
When those systems are disrupted by ransomware, phishing, a failed backup, or a compromised account, the impact reaches beyond IT. It can interrupt patient care, delay appointments, expose sensitive information, and put the practice's reputation at risk.
ValtaGuard helps dental practices reduce that risk with practical, layered security and dependable IT support.
See How We Protect Your PracticePatient Information
Dental practices store patient health information, insurance details, payment data, images, and treatment records that require protection.
Daily Operations
An outage can affect schedules, imaging, communication, payment processing, and access to records—interrupting patient care.
Trust and Compliance
Security safeguards, risk analysis, staff training, vendor management, and response planning help protect patient trust and support HIPAA security obligations.
Dental practices that take patient trust—and continuity—seriously.
ValtaGuard is designed for practices that want clear ownership of their cybersecurity, patient-data protection, and recovery readiness without adding a full-time internal security role.
Independent dental practices
For single-location practices that rely on a small team, connected clinical technology, and a dependable practice-management environment—but do not have a dedicated security professional on staff.
Growing and multi-location practices
For practices adding operatories, staff, technology, or another location and needing their network, access controls, backup strategy, and security processes to grow deliberately with them.
Practices with an existing IT provider
For offices that already have day-to-day IT support and want a focused cybersecurity partner to strengthen firewall and network security, access management, backup and recovery readiness, and HIPAA security support.
Whether you need a focused security specialist or a more complete IT relationship, the work begins with a scoped security review of your own environment.
Monthly care, scoped to your practice.
Every care plan begins with a security review, so recommendations and pricing are based on written findings about your own technology environment—not assumptions.

Not Sure Where Your Practice Stands?
Answer five brief questions to identify the security, recovery, or access-control areas that may deserve attention in your dental practice.
Take the 2-Minute Practice Security CheckNo patient information requested. No obligation. Clear next steps.
Before you request a review.
Will you replace my current IT company?
Not necessarily. Many clients keep their existing IT for printers, workstations, and everyday helpdesk work, and bring in ValtaGuard specifically for the security layer: firewall, backups, access control, and HIPAA safeguards. If you would rather have one place for both, managed IT services are part of every plan.
Do I need to change my practice management software?
No. Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and other dental software and imaging systems are worked with as they are. The goal is to secure and support what you already run, not to sell you new software.
What actually happens during a security review?
A scoped, quoted look at the firewall, accounts, remote access, software environment, and backups, followed by a plain-language written report: what is sound, what is at risk, and what to fix first. It is yours to keep whatever you decide to do next.
Will you ever have access to patient records?
Only where the work requires it, and never without a signed Business Associate Agreement in place first. Access is limited to what a given engagement needs.
How do support and emergency-response terms work?
Each care plan includes defined support and emergency-response terms, agreed in writing as part of your service agreement. Work outside that scope is quoted before it begins, at a preferred rate for plan clients.
What does 24/7 automated monitoring and after-hours alerts include?
For covered systems, configured security tools monitor for significant events around the clock and can send after-hours alerts to Matthew. When an alert is received, he reviews the situation and follows the response and escalation terms defined for the practice. This is not a staffed security operations center, and it does not guarantee an immediate response or remediation, or extend to systems outside the agreed service scope.
What is the difference between a backup and a recovery plan?
A backup is a copy of your data. A recovery plan addresses how the practice restores critical systems, access, information, and operations after a failure, cyber incident, or other disruption. Matthew helps practices understand and plan for both.
We are a single-location office with no IT staff. Is this still for us?
Yes. Single-location offices with no one whose full-time job is security are a core part of who this is built for, alongside growing practices and offices that already have separate IT help.
Start with the facts.
A security review gives you written findings about your own network, quoted before work begins.
